About Us
Mission PDF Print E-mail

The Children's Lighthouse exists to provide parents with a trustworthy, safe, secure environment in which their child can love, learn, and laugh. We aim to provide families with a premier, faith-based Christian educational preschool facility that stimulates and nurtures children's growth and development.

We will provide each child opportunities to build self-esteem that is essential in the adjusting, exploring, and growing stages of child development. We believe it is important to establish cooperative relationships with parents and families. We encourage and foster positive parent/teacher relationships which support children in their development.

Educational Philosophy PDF Print E-mail

Our Education Philosophy

We employ developmentally and age-appropriate practices.

These practices focus on what is appropriate for each child regarding their environment, learning, and development.

Children flourish and learn best when developmentally appropriate practices are used.

In our program, each child will be offered lessons and activities that will enable them to best develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially based on Biblical principles.

We believe each child is unique and will be treated as an individual.

Each child will be offered structured activities as well as opportunities for exploration and self-discovery.

Curriculum

At The Children's Lighthouse we use The Creative Curriculum®.

This curriculum is used widely throughout the United States.

Its stated mission is "to enhance the quality of early childhood programs by offering the highest quality curriculum materials, training programs, parenting resources, and staff development services that are practical, developmentally appropriate, responsive to the needs of the field, and reflect the most innovative thinking."

Its underlying philosophy draws from Jean Piaget's work on cognitive development, Erik Erikson's stages of socio-emotional development, and accepted theories of how children learn best.

The Children's Lighthouse infuses this curriculum with Biblical principles and lessons.

For added security, the entrance into the classroom areas is password-protected to ensure that only authorized parents and staff members gain access into our school for child drop off and pick up.

In addition, cameras are positioned throughout the school and are broadcast into our centralized viewing area within the lobby for administration monitoring and for parents to see their children interact within the classroom.

You can be assured that your child’s safety is a priority at The Children's Lighthouse.

Security: Sign in and Sign out Procedures

Providing a secure and safe environment for your child is a top priority at The Children's Lighthouse.

Parents are required to come into the school with their child when arriving in the morning and escort him/her to their classroom.

To enter the school, you will be assigned a personal password that must be entered on the touch screen monitor within the lobby area. Once this password is entered, any relevant messages for your family will be discreetly displayed on the monitor such as special notices, immunization record updates, tuition notices, etc. Your successful entry of your personal password will also release the main door lock where you and your child can gain access into the school.

There will be a sign in/sign out sheet located outside of your child's classroom that will also be used to track your child's attendance. Please fill in the arrival and departure times and sign your initials in the appropriate space provided.

In the instance where one parent has custody and certain visitation rights have been established, additional information will be required. Please provide this information when completing your application in the appropriate section and also discuss these details with the director.

A personal code word will be necessary in order to release your child to someone other than yourself.

The Children's Lighthouse must be notified in advance if anot her person will be picking up your child.

Anyone who you give permission to do so will be required to know the code word and must provide proper identification before we will allow your child to be removed from our facility.
